Since Ancient Rome the circus has entertained and astounded audiences around the world. And from that lineage we have come to know the circus from famous acts such as Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey that include traditional circus acts featuring animals. More recently the contemporary Cirque Du Soleil, with its focus on theatrical human performances, has gained a conspicuous following.
In this unforgettable workshop participants will learn Cirque skills from circus professionals.
This session begins with a group warm up to prepare us for trying our hand (and body) at trapeze, silk, wire walking, basic tumbling and obstacle course. And for the grand finale; a professional performance demo to wow us up close and personal.
JORDANN BAKER
Jordann Baker has been choreographing, performing, teaching and directing aerial theatre since 2006. She performed regularly with Dzul Dance (NYC), Bonnaroo Music Festival, NYC Aerial Dance Festival and in numerous venues around New York City. She co-founded The Sky Box aerial theatre and circus school in 2008. In her performances, Jordann combines grace and absolute dynamism in her work, marrying theatre, dance, circus and raw athleticism to create acts specificall inspired by each new show.
