MY FAMILY TAG
Create a graffiti style mural with the guidance of well-known mural/graffiti artist Alex Kizu. Since the 60s modern graffiti has been an outlet for many artists and groups to make a statement or mark territory with public markings that appear in the form of simple written words or elaborate paintings. Murals are significant because they bring art into public spaces. In this workshop each family will pick a word that they feel best expresses the family identity and will bring that word to life on their own 2ft x2ft board utilizing mural and graffiti techniques. The result will be a 30ft wide mural collaboration.
ALEX KIZU
Alex Kizu is an artist from Los angeles. While growing up as a youth in the mid-eighties, he was one of a small group of individuals throughout the city who pioneered the LA Graffiti Art Movement. Alex is known for his complex and unique lettering styles, visual ideas, detail and precise execution. He draws much of his inspiration from elements in the urban landscape as well as the forces and elements of nature.

I love to ski, fast. It is my favorite thing. "S.K.I." stands for self-esteem, kineticism, invention.
HAWAII
We love to travel to Hawaii. The flowers, beautiful beaches, rainbows, waves, sun and our extended family...
FUNNY
Because we have a funny family. Especially my dad, I drew him sticking his tongue out. That always makes me laugh.
PINK
In the Pink is a metaphor for being in a state of happiness and good health.
LOVE
The key to our heart is love. My favorite color is Pink. And I love butterflies.
LOVING
We have a loving family. That is why we used happy, bright colors. My favorite part was splasing the paint!
PEACE
We like to practice peace in our family. That is why I used a lot of peace signs. For the background we blended a lot of colors.
BRUSH OF PEACE
Our family always does kind things and is very peaceful. We used a lot of happy colors. Personified the letters with a crown, smily face, mouthful of teeth to make it fun. Because we are also fun!
